Not everyone is choosing the ascension path in this lifetime but if you’re reading this post you are very likely already walking the ascension path or realising you’re here for more than what your eyes can see. You’re waking to the divinity within you. You’re realising you’re not just this body, you are so much more. You are source embodied. You are the stars, the galaxies and this Earth. You are the spirit and the matter in the divine dance.
The first time I properly heard about the concept of enlightenment/samadhi/nirvana was in 2005 during my yoga teacher training in Kerala, India. I was 29, a newbie to yoga. It actually freaked me out and I decided that this is not what I want. Not my path. Not this way. Too masculine, too restrictive, that’s not what I’m here for. But once you are thrown onto this path, there’s no escaping it. If you’ve chosen to do it in this lifetime your soul will be constantly stirring you in this direction. It was only many years later when I finally realised there are many paths to ascension. Everyone has their own journey and you don’t have to follow someone else. You pave your own.
Religions and most of the systems take you further away from ascension because they have you looking for God outside of yourself. And they’re purposefully designed that way. And I can go as far as saying so does modern spirituality.
Do you really think that they want you aware of your God I am nature? Standing fully in your power and I am presence? Standing and living in your undeniable Truth? Ascension is not about going anywhere. Yes, you can have out-of-body experiences but it’s not that. Ascension is realising fully yourself as a Source/God. Realising you are the physical expression of source here to experience yourself in this body. Source wanting to know itself/experience itself.
But in order to do that you need to peel away all those layers that you have built around yourself. All the lies you have told yourself. All the lies you’ve been told by others and you took as your own. Releasing, releasing, releasing until only your pure essence remains. You don’t have to go anywhere or search for anything, it’s the opposite. You surrender, you release. You forgive. The art of forgiveness is a big one on this path. It’s a core teaching of Jesus. Ascension is a path of heart. It’s a path of deep surrender. It’s a path of remembrance. It’s a path of deep trust.
You will only truly become fully self-realised once you drop all labels and identities. And let’s be honest our ego doesn’t want to do that. We love the identities we built for ourselves. Artist, Mother, Priestess, Healer, Shaman. It’s who you are or is it?
It takes courage, dedication, consistency and patience in following your heart’s guidance and truth. Dropping old stories. Loving yourself so fiercely that this is the only way forward. Coming to the breaking point, where nothing no longer makes sense, where nothing no longer aligns, feeling like a stranger in your own life. Ready to shed it all. Ready to leave it all. Ready to surrender it all. Finding enough courage to take that first step. Allowing yourself to break down into thousands of pieces and be reborn over and over again.
That’s the way of love.
That’s ascension.
